Flora includes flowers, ferns, fungus, and other things that don't necessarily
bloom. Flora, like birds, can be found in your backyard, in your house,
along side a road or in the middle of a forest. We have photographed flora
in all of these locations and continue to add to the collection when we come
across suitable subjects. These photographs can range from technical
perfection showing great detail to abstract, soft focus art that might show
little or no specific detail.
The tulips in boxes in the street in St. John, New Brunswick (10a) were just
amazing! Tulips in a dark room in Georgia with painted light can be just
as lovely (10b). The lupine in Nova Scotia came in a variety of colors,
but we really loved the pink (10c).
Tall bearded irises have shown up here before and will again. They are
gorgeous, and we had a rare opportunity to shoot a wide range of colors (10d-e)
at the home of a wonderful lady who grew them. Photo 10f and 10i are
related. We made a delightful pot of Star Gazers and Sunflowers. These are
a good example of the same subject from different angles.
Rock Creek Park had a bed of hybridized day lilies (planted by
Jungle Paradise), so we took advantage of that color variety, too.
Photo 10g is a fairly pedestrian shot, but 10h shows what the inside looks like
much more closely. Some of that soft focus art.
These are a few among the several hundred we had to choose from, and we will
choose a different group next time. Let us know if there is something in
particular you would like to see.
