Hundreds? Thousands? How many ways can you use great photos to market yourself, your company, your products, services, or amenities? Without too much hyperbole I'm not sure there is a limit beyond that of your imagination. Below are some images we have taken over the years for clients who needed something special beyond a simple snapshot. A few warrant further explanation.
Image 10-1 is a product shot and the original work was done in a studio environment with good lighting. When set up and lit properly you not only get a good photo in the camera but against a neutral background (white, gray, or even black) you are able to extract the principal image from the scene and place it on any number of interesting backgrounds or on a web page without any distractions. Click the image to see the before and after. Similarly, Image 10-2 is a small sculpture that was shot on a neutral background and then composited on a solid black background showing two views in the same frame.
As indicated above some of this work is done best in the studio where we have the ability to have complete control over the lighting and spend time setting up the shot, particularly if the outcome is multiple compositions. Other times shooting in the studio is not possible because of the size of the object or because it is an outdoor scene. It is critical for us to determine how the client intends to use the image before we can help make a plan to create the most useful and flexible images. While websites, social media, and other online electronic uses are the most common these days they can also be used in PowerPoint slideshows, postcard mailers, brochures, posters/banners, and even billboards (think Carla Boutin and Roger Slaton on the State Farm billboard on Hwy 53 near 400).
We certainly know you can't get and frankly don't need professional photography for every image you use in your business operation. But, there are times where internal resources - even the latest/greatest smartphone - simply can't do the heavy lifting that a professional can provide. Let us know if we can help!
